Would you love me for my tomorrow

Or are you here only to see today?

Are you enraptured by my blossoms,

That may only last till eve?

Will you love me for my leaves and branches

And even more my roots,

Though many be tangled, gnarled, and some even broken?

Will you love me past my season when my beauty no longer shines

Or will I see the last of you long before my last petals shrivel and die?

I am so much more than a flower, my love!

I am rooted in the winds, rain, and soils of bounty and barrenness.

My leaves and branches have seen drought

And borne the prunings of the Master.

I have grown long and hard only to reveal the blossoms of today.

My beauty lies much deeper than the flowers,

That have been ripped and torn from me before their budding season.

Are you here for today's flower or will you cherish me till my time is at an end

And I have borne the fruit as the Master designed?
