It’s the cold, cracked concrete I remember lining the streets but now they shimmer with an unearthly light.
They scintillate as if moved by unseen waters.
Creatures flit across their surfaces in silvery flashes of scales
And nest in the lush moss caressing each lamp post stationed neatly along the street.
A crisp coral sky lined with feathery tongues of lavender fluff
Glow against the iridescent pearls lining the streets atop the slowly corroding posts.
The streets are starved of motion save the fleeting evidence of hidden creatures.
I feel the tugging and swaying of unseen waters ebbing and flowing like never-ending waves.
There’s moisture in the air but no water in sight.
Corals and sponges seep out of every crevice, cranny, and cave
Piecing together an elaborate mosaic of life across the otherwise empty landscape.
Trees drip with an unfamiliar decadence that leave me in such awe.
I wonder “Is this a dream?” as I find myself fading into my own bejewelled world.
