Today I shall spend loving you

Even if it’s only for a little while.

I have longed for longer days,

But I must remain satisfied with having today with you.

I give thanks that today is not the thousand without you.

Today I pretend that the hours will never end

Even as we watch the sun’s dying embers.

Today could be an eternity.

It is ours,

And I long to have just another hour of it.

I want to savour its sweetness for what lies ahead:

A chasm of time and distance.

It would be a lonely eternity if it is without you, my Love.

It would be lonely indeed.

Savour the pleasure of this moment with me,

My darling just for a little while longer.

I would have it become our eternity.
